Dr. Ben Murtagh, the Head of the School of Languages, Cultures, and Linguistics, SOAS University of London visited Wisma Bahasa last February. Wisma Bahasa and SOAS discussed about the cooperation plan in organizing training programs for Indonesian and local languages, such as modern Javanese, ancient Javanese, and Sundanese.

Additionaly, there is also a large number of languages that are important but not widely taught at SOAS, including Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Thai, Persian, Turkish and Hebrew. SOAS is also the only institution in the UK where Swahili, Zulu, Hausa, Yorùbá, Somali, Amharic, Burmese, Indonesian, Khmer, Vietnamese, Bengali, Punjabi and Nepali are taught. The School is also the house of the prestigious Endangered Languages Documentation Programme and the Centre for Translation Studies.
Since in the past five years, five SOAS students have studied in Wisma Bahasa. In fact, Dr. Ben Murtagh himself studied Indonesian at Wisma Bahasa Jakarta in 2018 which made this cooperation possible.
